Happy ending for four-legged wedding crasher

When a couple’s special day was interrupted by a stray dog, not only did he steal the show, but he stole their hearts too.

Tamíris Muzini and Douglas Robert were preparing for their wedding ceremony at a church in the city of Vila Velha, on Brazil’s southeastern coast, when a stray dog joined the 150 invited guests in attending, as reported by the NY Post.

“Before the ceremony started [the dog] entered the church and went straight upstairs, where he met the groom and guests,” Muzini told the outlet.

After that he returned downstairs, where he lay outside the door until Muzini arrived.

“He stayed there, just waiting for me to enter,” she said.

A stray dog that gatecrashed Tamíris Muzini and Douglas Robert’s wedding has since become a member of their family. Take me,’” she told TheDodo.com.

Having stolen the couple’s hearts, they made him a part of their family - and quickly came up with a name for him.

“Everyone started calling him Caramelo, and that was it,” Muzini told the Post.

With a first name fitting his golden coat, Muzini and Robert decided his full name would be Caramelo de Jesus “because, without a doubt, he was sent to us by God”.

“It was surreal and inexplicable,: Muzini said.

“He marked an important day in our history. Image: @caramelodejesus (Instagram)

Ever since, Caramelo has become an inseparable part of the newlywed’s family - even earning himself his own social media profile where the family’s adventures are shared.

“In the one month we’ve shared, we have had several adventures with him,” Muzini said. “Each day is a different surprise.

“One day he pees in the kitchen, another day he climbs on top of cars, then he steals grandma’s bread and runs away with it.

“But every day, he is sad when we go out to work. He welcomes us home with jumps, hugs and kisses when we return.”

With all his antics, Muzini said Caramelo is preparing her for motherhood.

“Undoubtedly, Caramelo is a beautiful training for a not-too-distant future with a human son,” she said.

“He’s like a naughty child, but he is also very docile and super loving. He fills us with so much love all the time.”

Image: @caramelodejesus (Instagram)

“Sorry, not sorry”: Wedding videographer refuses to issue refund after bride-to-be dies

A man who lost his fiancée in a car crash has been threatened with a lawsuit after he requested a refund from the wedding videography company the couple had hired.

Justin Montney, 24, was forced to cancel his May wedding after his 22-year-old bride-to-be Alexis-Athena Wyatt died in February.

Montney said the Texas, US-based videography company Copper Stallion Media refused to refund his US$1,800 deposit, saying it was non-refundable.

The man told Buzzfeed News he reached out to the company again last week, informing them he planned to share the dispute on social media. The company threatened to sue him and Wyatt’s family in response to a review her mother wrote on wedding website The Knot.

“They should have been able to [issue a refund] because they didn’t render any services,” Montney told KRDO-TV.

He said the company offered to extend their service to his next wedding, which was “a very a very insensitive thing to tell me”.

Montney said other vendors did not hesitate to refund their money after learning about Wyatt’s death. “They obviously felt terrible for what had happened,” he said.

After Montney went public with his experience, Copper Stallion Media created a website using Montney’s name – JustinMontney.com – to rebut his claims, accusing him of driving a “smear campaign”.

“We understand a death occurred, but it’s not right for people to turn to the internet and sodomize the reputation of a company,” read the text, which has since been removed on the website.

“He could have quietly filed a small claim to ‘try’ to recoup the non-refundable deposit. Instead, he chose the internet to shake us down.”

On May 23, the company posted a photo of the couple with the caption: “Today would have been the day where we would have filmed Justin and Alexis’ wedding in Colorado Springs.

“After what Justin pulled with the media stunt to try and shake us down for a refund, we hope you sob and cry all day for what would have been your wedding day.

“Sorry, not sorry.”

Copper Stallion Media has since shut down their pages on Facebook and The Knot.

Videographer Alex Murphy, who used to work for the company, told The Denver Channel he left because they refused to pay him.

He said his final paycheck came from Las Vegas-registered company Organized Weddings LLC, which is associated with a man named Jesse J Clark.

Clark was sued by Massachusetts’ attorney general in 2013 for defrauding 90 couples by accepting payments and failing to provide their wedding videos, according to the Telegram & Gazette.

“It’s more bridal than mine!” Woman’s surprise over mum’s wedding day dress choice

Couple continue with wedding despite volcanic eruption

A couple did not let a major volcanic emergency get in the way of their wedding as they walked down the aisle during an eruption.

Chino Vaflor and Kat Bautista Palomar had been making plans for eight years to tie the knot on Sunday at Savannah Farm in the Philippines, 10 kilometres from Taal Volcano.

White smoke came out of the active volcano hours before the ceremony began, but it hadn’t reached emergency level until the wedding was underway. Philippine authorities raised their alert to the second-highest level, and people within a 14km radius of the volcano were told to evacuate.

Wedding photographer Randolf Evan told BBC they felt “definitely safe as the venue was on higher ground and not directly around the volcano's vicinity”.

Evan said the wedding guests were “calm and relaxed” despite the imminent danger.

“Funny enough, the smoke from the volcano just kind of like served as an entertaining backdrop changing from white, yellow, pink and finally to grey,” he told Mirror.

“Our team, as well as the rest of the suppliers, was just getting a feel if the couple wanted to postpone or not.

“They ended up going ahead with everything as we later found out that they have been planning for this day for eight years and two kids in the making.

“It was going to be a special day for them no matter what, and it definitely was.”

Evan said ash rained on their clothes, but “it didn't feel alarming until nighttime came when it became a bit heavier and mud-like”.

He confirmed that everyone was now safely out of the danger zone.

Cricket world reacts to hilarious wedding photo

The cricket world has reacted to a hilarious moment taken on the night of a bride and grooms wedding night.

While marriage is about the celebration of true love, it seems the bride played second fiddle to her husband’s one true passion on their special evening.

Living in America poses its own challenges as Tasleem is forced to watch his favourite sport, cricket, at odd hours in the day, and said that if the opportunity arrives to watch the game, he takes it - even if the sport interrupts what should be the most special day of his life.

The newly married hubby sent a snap of he and his wife to the International Cricket Council (ICC), where he reflected on the moment he came home from his wedding procession to find out Pakistan was playing Australia in the first game of their three-match T20 series at the SCG on the weekend.

As a prolific fan of the game, there was no other option than to sit down with his new wife and watch the match.

“Hello, as a diehard cricket fan, I wanted to submit a photo from my wedding this past weekend,” Tasleem wrote in his letter to the ICC.

“As per tradition, after the completion of the wedding the bride is brought back home for a little traditional welcoming ceremony amongst the close family.

Here's a message we got from a fan in the US 👫#CoupleGoals

You know it's love when ... pic.twitter.com/4YuGImuXjW
— ICC (@ICC) November 6, 2019

“As we came home (around midnight in Detroit, Michigan, USA) the Pakistan vs Australia T20 game was getting underway.

“Over the years residing in North America I’ve stayed up at all sorts of odd hours of night to catch Team Pakistan play.

“Even though it was my wedding night, I wasn’t going to miss this game.”

Australian skipper Aaron French found the post hilarious, and couldn’t help but acknowledge how funny it was he took centre stage during the couple’s wedding.

Haha glad I played such a special part in your day!! 😂😂
Take note @_AmyFinch https://t.co/MbG4YGJad8
— Aaron Finch (@AaronFinch5) November 6, 2019

The cricket world quickly reacted to the sweet image, with the post garnering in over 10,000 likes.

One Twitter user and die hard cricket fan couldn’t help but compare the hilarious photo to one taken on his parent’s wedding night in 1983.

“Not quite the same but can't resist sharing. Place: Mumbai. These are guests at my parents' wedding on 30 Oct 1983, huddled around a radio, listening to the second day's play of the Kotla test match against,” the user wrote.

Not quite the same but can't resist sharing.
Place: Mumbai. Dude first go and check out the schedule as match is more important than any other event of life!”

Unfortunately for Tasleem, the match ended on a bad note for Pakistan as the game was called off due to rain and the country went on to lose game two of the series in Canberra.

The BIG way Princess Beatrice is choosing to differ from the rest of royal weddings

The British public won’t have to sweat it when thinking about sporting the wedding bill for the next royal wedding.

A palace spokesperson has told the Express Princess Beatrice and her fiance, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi will be privately funding their nuptials in 2020.

It is a move not many royals have done in the past, including Beatrice’s younger sister, Princess Eugenie, who had a massive £2 million cost to the public for security.

Eugenie’s hefty bill did not come without vitriol from the public, with thousands of U.K. citizens signing a petition addressed to the House of Commons, demanding no taxpayer funds be used for the royal ceremonies.

The campaign was started by Republic, an anti-monarchist group.

"Who’s heard of Princess Eugenie anyway?" Why Duchess Kate was left in tears days before her and Prince William’s wedding

It was one of the most monumental moments in the royal family, but reports claim the star of the show was left in tears just days before the big event.

In the months leading up to the biggest wedding of 2011, the royal union of Prince William and his long-term girlfriend Kate Middleton, a royal expert claims she was left “in tears” due to never-ending speculation about who would design the wedding dress and what it would look like.

Not long before the big day, Duchess Kate’s dress designer leaked and was spread all throughout the press.

Alexander McQueen's Sarah Burton was revealed to be designing the now-duchess' wedding gown, and though Burton denied the rumours, the Duchess of Cambridge’s big secret was out.

"Behind the scenes I think that caused tears at the Palace because Kate had done everything she could to keep the wedding dress a secret," royal expert Katie Nicholl said in the new Secrets of the Royal Dressmakers documentary.

UK papers reported the dress would be a perfect mix between the royal’s own design preferences and Burton’s high-fashion background however the look of the dress itself was still under wraps.

Meaning when the big day rolled around, the world was astonished by the gorgeous gown.

The satin bodice and long lace sleeves perfectly paired with her flowing veil and elegant, long train.

While Burton denied the rumours of her involvement of the dress, it was officially revealed she was the designer the moment the Duchess stepped out of the car at Westminster Abbey.

Scroll through the gallery above to see Duchess Kate’s incredible wedding gown.

10 fascinating wedding traditions from around the world

1. Connecting with all five senses in the Andes Mountains of Peru

“Traditional Andean weddings take place outdoors, and are meant to elicit the natural world. At each ceremony, a small offering is given to Pachamama – a Mother Earth goddess, revered in Andean culture,” explains global wedding experts Alex Pelling and Lisa Gant, who have gotten married 71 times in 65 countries during the past five years, including in the Andes Mountains of Peru. The Pellings’ Andean wedding was illustrative of local customs. The bride and groom entered a garden from opposite sides, to represent the coming together of people from different villages. A shaman awaited their arrival, while chanting a blessing. There was also intense, rhythmic music playing. “There was a scent of burning herbs, and the shaman poured oil down the backs of our necks, to elicit physical sensation. Everything that occurs at an Andean wedding ceremony is designed to overwhelm the senses – sight, hearing, touch, scent, all of it. The ceremony is not just someone talking to you about your union,” he explains. The Pellings gave offerings to each other, and buried a joint offering to Pachamama, which is meant to be there waiting for her, underground, until the end of time.

2. Searching for Ms Right in Germany

In some small villages in Germany, grooms aren’t guaranteed that their brides will make it to the altar on time – or at all. Kidnapping the bride is an old custom, beloved by pranksters and friends of the betrothed. After the bride’s friends kidnap her, the groom is tasked with looking for his one true love. The best hunting grounds (of course) are pubs. There, the locals might provide clues, provided they are invited to the wedding. If the invite isn’t forthcoming, custom demands that the brideless groom pick up the bar tab – for the entire pub.

3. Showing them the money in Cuba

Since it is still a communist country, weddings in Cuba are nonreligious, civil ceremonies. Even so, they can be extravagant affairs, earmarked by interesting customs, such as the money dance. Meant to help fill the newlywed’s coffers, this interactive tradition is also tonnes of fun for guests. After the formal ceremony’s pomp and circumstance has been completed, men who wish to dance with the bride must first pin money to her dress. This (highly profitable) custom is also common in parts of the southern United States, Poland and Greece.

4. Stretching out the ceremony in Pakistan

Pakistani wedding ceremonies are comprised of many rituals, which take place over days, weeks, or even months. Pelling and Gant’s wedding here was their most exciting, and fun, to date. “In Pakistan, there aren’t many social outlets, like ice skating, rollerblading and socialising. Weddings are one of the top social events here, so they are extremely elaborate,” explains Pelling. The colourful, flower-filled extravaganzas often start with the Nikkah, or signing of the wedding contract. Then comes the Mooh Dikhai. For this ceremony, the bride’s face is completely covered, and ceremoniously revealed to her groom as he gently removes her veil. If this is not a deal breaker (many ancient weddings were arranged), other ceremonies will follow over many days, including the Mehndi, or henna ceremony, where henna and oil are applied to the bride and groom by their families and friends. The Mehndi is great fun, and features lots of dancing and sweets. After many more days of rituals, which include music, dancing and the presenting of scarves filled with sweets to important members of the family, the Baraat, a processional walk by the groom to the bride’s home, takes place. This typically includes the groom’s clan, and features drumming and fireworks. Finally, the Shaadi, or bride’s reception, arrives. Unlike the white weddings so customary in many parts of the world, Pakistani brides typically attend this ceremony in red or purple. The final wedding ceremony is the Walima. It is often the most extravagant of all the events, and takes place after the couple has already consummated their vows and are technically husband and wife. For this ceremony, Western dress is sometimes worn.

5. Stringing it together in Thailand

Weddings in Thailand are filled with Buddhist rituals, meant to honour the bride and groom’s ancestors and to sanctify their union. During the ceremony, the couple kneels next to each other in a prayer position. A trusted, beloved elder of their choosing (preferably one known to have had a happy marriage) places a traditional headpiece on their heads. The headpiece, called a Mong Kol, is made from a single piece of string, which has been blessed by monks. The bride and groom wear the Mong Kol for the rest of their wedding ceremony, to symbolise their union and oneness.

6. Live long and prosper in Sweden

In Sweden, brides are decked from head to toe in tradition. They often wear crowns, made of myrtle flowers, to symbolise virginity, marital fidelity and good luck on their heads. In their shoes, they tuck one coin each – silver in the left shoe from their father, and gold in the right from their mum. The coins symbolise hope for the couple’s marital prosperity.

7. Dancing till dawn in France

Joyful, weekend-long French weddings bring new meaning to the phrase ‘dancing the night away’. If you love kicking up your heels, you’ll want to nab this custom for yourself. Eimear Lynch, author of Bridesmaids: True Tales of Love, Envy, Loyalty, and Terrible Dresses, reported in New York Magazine that French weddings feature non-stop dancing all night long, which doesn’t stop until the guests fall down, or it’s time to go to work. French marriages must have a civil ceremony in order to be legal, so French brides and grooms often opt for two events over a long weekend – one civil service and one religious ceremony. Either or both may be followed by a fabulous, champagne-filled fete, complete with a disc jockey, band and foot-tapping rhythms that keep guests on their feet for seven hours or more.

8. Jumping the broom in Ghana

According to the African American Registry, this joyful tradition, strongly associated with American slavery, has its origins in the West African country of Ghana. The broom was used to symbolise the sweeping away of evil spirits and past wrong doing by the bride and groom. Sometimes it was waved over the heads of the betrothed couple. Other times the bride and groom would jump over it at the end of the ceremony, and whoever jumped the highest was deemed the head of the household.

9. Tying the knot in South Africa

South African weddings are steeped in ancient tradition. Twelve symbols, meant to represent the couple’s life together, must be present at every ceremony. These include wine, wheat, a broom, honey, bitter herbs, salt, pepper, a spoon, spear, a cooking pot and a shield, plus a holy book, such as a Bible or Koran. In addition to the 12 symbols of life, the bride and groom ceremoniously have their wrists tied together with grass to symbolise their coming together as a couple.

10. Finding harmony in Bali

Balinese weddings, called pawiwahans, are meant to generate harmony and create balance between the material and spiritual realms. The sacred ceremony provides a chance for the bride and groom to testify before the gods, creatures of the underworld, and their community. The ceremony also solidifies the couple’s citizenship in their village. The ceremony includes gift giving and a procession through the streets. The couple undergo a purification ceremony, to clear their hearts and minds of negative thoughts and energy, and are then deemed ready to be married, in view of all of their neighbours, family, and friends.

Written by Corey Whelan.
