Prince William and Prince Harry: Heartbreaking news for the royal brothers

A former British soldier who served with Prince Harry and Prince William has died from coronavirus.

Ryan Cartwright, 36, passed away as he was planning a return to the army, friends told The Sun. He was working as a lorry driver at the time of his death.

The father-of-one had served for four years in the Blues and Royals, the cavalry regiment William and Harry joined in 2006.

Cartwright is survived by his partner Amy Potts and their daughter.

Former comrade Sam Hopes wrote on a Facebook tribute: “He only messaged me a few months ago telling me he was getting back in. I’m shocked. RIP Ryan.”

The Blues and Royals cavalry regiment was formed in 1969.

Cartwright saw active service in peacekeeping role in Bosnia in 2002. Prince Harry joined the Blues and Royals in January 2006 amid his training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, and was later promoted to lieutenant in 2008. Prince William joined the cavalry in December 2006.
